Perkembangan adalah proses menuju kedewasaan, bersifat reversible, kualitatif (tidak dapat diukur)

Indikator pertumbuhan pada tanaman dapat dilihat dengan mengukur tinggi tanaman, luas permukaan daun atau mengukur volume akar

     Pertumbuhan tanaman ada 2 macam :
1. Pertumbuhan Primer
2. Pertumbuhan Sekunder
    (-)Pertumbuhan primer terjadi pada embrio, ujung akar, dan ujung batang.Pertumbuhan ini menyebabkan akar dan batang bertambah panjang
    (-)Pertumbuhan sekunder terjadi pada kambium yang menyebabkan bertambah besarnya diameter batang (pertumbuhan ini hanya terjadi pada tumbuhan dikotil berkayu)
